Objective:
The student will draw a self portrait, date it and put it away to use as a comparison for improvement at the end of the year.

Objective:

Objective:

Objective:
The student will create a relief plate to use as a stamp for printing cards.

Objective:

Objective:
The student will be able to recognize a landscape painting and the three parts, foreground, middle ground and background. The student will compose a landscape on a styrofoam plate by incising lines into the surface.

The student will ink and print the plate of their landscape image.

Objective:
The student will be familiar with the work “Portrait of Andrea Quaratesi”, by Michelangelo. The student will create their own portrait in a similar pose using neutral color crayons.

Working with Texture / Making a Heart Collage
Objective:
The student will know what the art element texture is and will make rubbings of a variety of textures. The student will use their rubbings to create a collage of textured hearts.

Crayon Drawing / Giant Hearts with Color and Design
Objective:
The student will begin working on a drawing of a giant heart in an effort to practice design and color application.

Completing Our Giant Heart Drawings
Objective:
The student will complete the giant heart drawings they began in the last lesson by filling in the background with more design and pattern.

Objective:
The student will learn about the art element value and use watercolor to create a range of values on a background.

Objective:
The students will know what a silhouette is and cut out a city skyline silhouette to glue onto their value painting.

Objective:
The student will prepare a surface on which they can make a crayon etching. The student will design a plan for their crayon etching using flowers as their subject.

Objective:
The student will learn how to create foreshortening and space by drawing their hands in front of their face.

Objective:
The student will spend time looking at their own expressions and observing the changes in their facial features. The students will draw of their observations on white paper.

Looking at Munch’s “The Scream” / Painting the Background of Our Final Self Portrait
Objective:
The student will look at Edward Munch’s “The Scream” and examine it in detail. The student will copy the work on white paper with crayons. The student will paint a background for our final expressive portrait.

Drawing Our Expressions with Oil Pastels
Objective:
The student will complete their final self portrait with oil pastels and create an expression on their face.
