Kindergarten Art Lesson 12
A Snowman, Part 2 Completing the Snowman Using Collage
Objective:
The students will complete their snowman painting using a variety of materials glued to the surface creating a collaged finish.
Materials:
Last lessons snowman painting, glitter, white glue, small buttons, small sticks and other materials may be incorporated
Procedure:
Begin by drawing with the glue the lines where you want your glitter to go. Make the lines thick enough to hold the glitter. With your paper on top of a larger sheet of paper, generously pour out the glitter over the glue lines. Next carefully lift up the paper allowing excess glitter to spill onto the larger paper. Teachers should pour this back into the glitter jar. Next, find a portion of the stick that will work for arms and hands breaking it off where necessary. Glue down the flattest side of the stick to the paper. Next add buttons and other objects, (i.e. cut or torn paper, fabric) to fill in eyes, nose, mouth and other details. Let your imagination soar
Conclusion:
Put your work on a flat surface to dry. Once they are dry, mount them on poster board backing and hang them for the rest of the school to enjoy. Encourage the kids to always be on the lookout for how they could use ordinary objects to create fantastic works of art.
