Fifth Grade Art Lesson 8
Tissue Paper Collage, Part 2 Drawing in the Details on Our Still Life with Ink
Objective:
The student will complete their still life tissue paper collage by delineating the details of the still life.
Materials:
Last lesson's work, permanent marker or Sharpie, the same still life arrangement used for the last lesson
Procedure:
Take last lesson's work and make sure you have filled the entire paper in with warm or cool tissue paper. Next using a permanent marker we will outline the shapes of our still life. Typically fifth graders want to rush through this process, but to make it effective, you must color in your lines. That is they need to be thick and have variety. When it comes to outlining your leaves the students will need to take some artistic license. That is to say they will probably not draw every leaf they see, but use a controlled scribble line to imply the full amount of leaves in the still life. The process of drawing off your lines is important to getting a finished looking work. So go slowly, take your time, and do it well.
Conclusion:
We have celebrated fall using warm and cool colors and a fall still life arrangement. Mount the work and display it for everyone to enjoy.
